2013-11-17: Day 53
Having carefully eaten myself down to virtually nothing due to the short time remaining and my anticipation of eating out I ventured forth in the hope of just picking up something simple from the fair type thing in front of the National Museum. No such luck as it had basically shut down.
Disappointing.
I wander back through Deák Ter and the few huts which have started to pop up there in the lead up to Christmas are still showing signs of life. I grab some sausage and beer and sit down to a couple of old boys playing guitar and singing a mix of, presumably, local tunes and the odd number in English. These gents can play and almost make me forget just how outrageous (by Hungarian standards) the price of the food was (beer was not so bad) and how irksome the person in front of me in the queue had been. I shall not give away their nationality but they spent forever paying as they were trying to convert in to $ in their head and then threw their notes on to the counter right in to a puddle of beer. Bravo.
