#2013-06 ~ Portugal (Algarve)  #Estoi  #meat  #Portugal  #Tavira  #travelblog

Currently sat in a nice little square in Estoi for the latest catch-up session.

Olhão was ok but not much by way of sights. Spent the day wandering the streets and reading. Started and finished a book whilst looking out over the harbour and out to sea.

Had eel stew at A Taska which was very tasty although I suspect the stew sauce would have been very tasty with any other meat in it too.

Yesterday Darren and I went to Tavira and wandered its streets and looked at some churches and the castle. Very hot and the cocktails were a medical requirement rather than an utter pleasure.

In the evening we went to Agra Nova and were pretty bewildered by their array of food. Thankfully they had wifi to help out with this and we decided that steak "Portuguese style" means "with a fried egg". I went for "Algarve style" which seemed to involve a sauce/marinade of alcohol (brandy & wine) and was delightful. As was the cured ham starter and biscuit cake desert.

I'm in Estoi to look around the ruins of a Roman villa which was... ruins but they were different ruins and it's a good excuse to get out of Faro in a different direction. Headed back to the find the boys on the beach and then we were to head for the airport.
