One of the bits of local wisdom I picked up on Friday night was that Szimpla Kert has a market on a Sunday. Being within easy striking distance it seemed rude not to pay it a visit.

I've looked at cheese and thought it was most likely soap...

Now this was both very safe and extremely dodgy territory. Veg, easily recognisable, no problem. Cheese, may not understand all the varieties but there wasn't the problem I've had at some farmers markets in England where I've looked at cheese and thought it was most likely soap... and vice versa. So far so good. Meat, some identifiable, some not but not a major problem.

Then we get to the jars and mercifully some had English labels and some had pictures of bees. My powers of deductive reasoning leading me to believe I could identify the contents of these. The rest... pretty sure there were some drinks, elderflower and the like, also jams... beyond that... some could have been oil but there was certainly one stall I didn't have a clue about. Ultimately best avoided.

Unsurprisingly was another tourist hub and a number of the folk seemed to have some English so naturally I decide to buy something from someone who doesn't. Not a problem until after I handed over the money he asked me a question and I had not a clue what it was. I should have. I worked it out about 3 seconds later but it was too late by then. If buying something for 210ft and you hand over 1,000 the next thing you hear is most likely going to equate to "do you have a 10?". And I did.

Idiot.

In the afternoon I strolled up to City Park and wandered around. Went there last year but it was cold and dull so the chance to spend a reasonably warm (by my standards) Sunday afternoon was welcome as I got to see much more of it this time and it was considerably more random.

First up, a dog with a Hungarian flag attached to its back (disappointingly it was upright rather than worn as a cape). It had writing on it but the picture I got wasn't good enough to try and decipher it.

One thing I've noticed more this time around is the number of people who seem to be sleeping rough. I thought I'd found their capital city in the park but it ended up looking more like an über tat jumble sale. My opinion is probably coloured as they seemed to be packing up when I got there. Packing up in this case meaning wandering off and leaving a ton of litter behind. Curious and not somewhere I think I'll be rushing back to pick up souvenirs.

Wandering on I found some kind a small show with some lass who is probably moderately well known, judging by how comfortable she seemed on stage and that it was being filmed, belting out a couple of songs. Best interpretation of the stalls around was that it was a health awareness thing, probably sponsored by Flora and some random bagged salad producer.

To finish my somewhat eclectic meander through the park I found the UEFA Champions League trophy. As you do. Granted it wasn't just lying around, it was on a bus with a load of pomp & ceremony, a long queue of people waiting to have their photo taken along with it and some girl who probably has appeared in better photos taken than this one.

The result was total structural integrity failure

Returned home to cook yesterday's mystery sausage.

The result was total structural integrity failure but thankfully this was of the sausage, not of me. Tasted good though clearly I need to work upon my preparation methods.
