#2014-07 ~ Prague  #drinks  #meat  #Prague  #travelblog

Start the day with a walk out east towards a farmers market for some deeply underwhelming coffee but a nice bread snack and, after being convinced by a possibly rigged coin toss, some pork scratchings for Darren... also, from what I had, pretty underwhelming.

Walked from there to the north edge of town and our first trip to the Beer Museum... which isn't a museum at all but a pub with about 30 beers on. They did tasting racks and of the 5 picks I had they were all really rather good.

Wandered into the heart of the old town and the astronomical clock... underwhelming seems to be developing theme in this post so I'll use it again here.

Relaxed in a park for a bit watching some debatable behaviour on pedalos and then a couple more bars before food. I will say, the prevalence of smoking in bars is a shame but, what can you do?

The evening food... eyes > stomach. Beef tartare on a lot of garlic toast. Never had tartare before but really enjoyed it. If I'm honest I could probably have stopped there happily but no I, and Darren, had the equivalent of a mixed grill arriving. Quarter duck, Moravian sparrow (pork), sausage, dumplings, bread, cabbage and some other stuff. Up and beyond the gills. The fact that when looking for the next bar I had a sneezing fit was really not appreciated.

So so stupidly full!

Ended in a basement bar that despite having air-con didn't have it on and the smoke just slowly descended and the ability to see the football on the tv decreased (only the 3rd place world cup game so no biggie).

Made it back to the hostel and collapsed and let sleep and time try to resolve my food gorged self.
