2013-10-05: Day 10
It's a strange thing to get used to. I'm removed from my usual environs so feel like I'm on holiday. When on holiday I prefer not to sit around not doing or seeing something new so I'm normally on the go.
That's not really sustainable over this length of trip and I also have to concern myself with aspects of "real" life such as making sure I've money in the right place for bills as I couldn't sort it all out before leaving.
So today was an attempt to do less. I only went walking around the city for 6 hours. Doesn't really sound like I was successful when I write it like that. Perhaps it reads better if I say I didn't go out in the evening and just sat in relaxing.
Ok, I may have some things to work on in this regard still.
During those 6 hours I headed south, mainly. Not very far and lots of loops to try and get a handle on how the city is lined up down there but served it's purpose. Made it as far as the Chinese market and found some places that the guide book describes as being "on the mean streets of...". I've no idea what it's talking about. Less touristy certainly but "mean streets"? Not by any definition I'm familiar with.
Back to more exciting fare tomorrow with a trip to the Pálinka and Sausage festival in Buda Castle.
What could possibly go wrong?
